Short-Term Memory Improvement – The Right Way to Practice Basic Word Association
By Robert Deveau
There is a right way and a wrong way to practice basic word association. It does seem somewhat boring and if you have done any searching at all for memory improvement techniques you certainly have heard of it. You might even have discounted it. But I want you to put all of that aside for now and accept that their might be a more interesting and more effective way of doing it.
Word association seems reasonable to some people but what if you forget your association? It has happened to me before. I take the time to remember someones name and then I forget what I was supposed to associated the name with.
The problem was that the association was not strong enough and obviously not memorable enough. In order to make the association strong enough

About Losing Our Memory As We Age
As we get older, our brain cells become less efficient and some may die. This leaves the network without it’s full complement of cells and consequently it cannot fire in the precise patterns to elicit the memory. – In this context, things become more difficult to recall.
Good news though! – The brain is able to produce new brain cells well into old age. We just have to provide them with the correct environment in which to join neural networks and become efficient. There are two ways to do this.
The first way is exercise and nutrition. This creates an excellent physiological environment in which our brains can function. The second way is to never stop mentally challenging yourself.

Aging Backwards? Sounds Good? Improve Your Memory This Way!
Five Tips For Aging Backwards
By Jackie Silver
I like to think of myself as the “anti-aging Petri dish.” I try as many of the latest, greatest products, services and procedures for turning back the clock as I can — and I tell everyone what works for me. As a correspondent on a syndicated TV show, a contributor to a weekly radio program, and a blabbermouth — I have plenty of opportunities to spread the word.
Getting older may be beyond our control, but how we age is not. I, personally, am Aging Backwards. I am almost 50 years old and I still get asked for ID to buy wine — something I consider a real compliment!
I like to find unique ways to look at ordinary situations — and I’ve compiled my secrets, tips and shortcuts into my forthcoming book, Aging Backwards. Here are a few tips you can try right away that will start you on your way to rediscovering your youth.
1. Keep your brain sharp.

Memory Improvement With Physical and Mental Exercise!
This combination sounds good and makes sense, this is just a small excerpt, you can read more here
With the dynamic-duo of both mental and physical exercise, you get a more powerful brain advantage.
Your brain needs both mental and physical stimulation.
Ask yourself, “Which type of exercise have I done for my brain lately? How well do I balance my brain power activities? Am I doing enough cross-training for my brain?”
Just as mental challenges stimulate your brain power – (you don’t have to take up rocket science, almost any activity will do provided it snares your interest and stimulates your brain to learn new challenges) – so does physical exercise stimulate new brain cell growth.
Exercise Grows New Brain Cells.
Physical exercise is a critical component of good health. Among its many benefits, exercise grows new brain cells. Studies show about one-half hour of exercise about three or four times a week stimulates neurogenesis, the growth of neurons, because it increases activity in the part of the brain which is important to learning and memory.
Your brain benefits when you think “How can I best balance my mental and physical exercise?”
Now, wouldn’t you say that’s an extraordinary reason to work out both mentally and physically? – and who wouldn’t want to increase their brain power possibility?

Improve Your Memory, Try This
Be More Organized
One of the most tedious but most effective ways to improve memory is to get a handle on life. Whether it’s your mail that’s in shambles, your sock drawer a mess or your contacts all messed up, you can improve memory by remembering names, numbers, important dates – and of course where you left your keys if you are more organized.
Give everything a home. If you want to improve memory where it comes to your belongings, designate a place for everything. It may sound hard at first, but once you have a system in place, it becomes a way of life and you wonder who you ever lived without it. Make duplicate keys in times of emergency and for all other times, designate a key holder near your front door so you can grab –and put back- the keys in the right place every time. Once you are used to doing this, this will be one less area you have to improve memory.
